Each of these photos is a good example of texture.

Select Samples

These photos are all edited and select images that had to have an insert from another image.  I found it extremely interesting to use the tools but now, my eyes burn and I'm sad.

Replace The Sky

I personally think this looks like I drew the tree branch over the sky photo.  I really don't like replacing the sky in photos because it takes up a lot of time and it looks fake.

It doesn't even look like I replaced the sky but I did.  I only reverted it to black and white so no one could tell there was a difference in the pigment of the sky.

Light Examples

Light Examples

Personally, I really like this photo.  Not only is it an unusual shot, but it was taken underwater and the light reflects off of the ground.  I kind of want to know what it looks like when it isn't black and white, and that's probably the only thing I would change in the picture.

I like this photo; it's antique looking and the light is visible.  You can see where it casts across the picture and the dead leaves / flowers in the picture on the ground give it a sad kind of mood.  The only thing that bothers me is that it sort of looks fake.

I don't like this picture.  It's overused and there's too much yellow in it.  There isn't much color and it also looks like the contrast is turned way up.  Personally, I wouldn't take this picture.

I don't like this picture very much.  It's too dark and there isn't any color.

I don't like this one, either, for the same reasons as above.  I feel like both pictures would've been better with color or if the contrast wasn't turned up as much.

I'm not a fan of this picture but the light in it is good and there's a lot of color.  I would've tried doing this one in black and white but the contrast is too high for my liking.

Depth of Field Examples

Wide Depth of Field Examples

photo from http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/wide-angle-lenses.htm

I picked this photo because I liked how different it is from most pictures I see of the sky.  The colors are different and it isn't an overused kind of picture.

photo from chubsnap.com

Despite everything being in focus in this photo, I feel like the subject was the lighthouse.  It blends in nicely with the rest of the photo and I don't see anything wrong with it.

photo from http://www.jclarksonphotography.com/articles/aperturedepthoffield.php

I'm not much of a fan of this photo.  It's an overused angle; the flowers aren't in focus and in a lot of places, it's too sharp or too blurred.  The colors are all the same and I really rather hate it.

Narrow Depth of Field Examples

I don't see many photos with only half a person in them, so this was interesting.  Not only is it an example of narrow depth of field, it's an example of leading lines.

This photo is one of my favorites.  It looks fake, but it's easy to tell it isn't.  The only thing in focus is the water drop; the other areas of the photo aren't; not even the tip of the leaf is in focus.

I enjoy this photo, but it isn't one of my favorites.  There are a lot of pictures like this and even though I'm not a huge fan of them, I think it's a good picture.  The leaf is crisp whereas the background is blurred.  I feel like this is a perfect example of narrow depth of field.

Photography of Light

Photography of Light

Shutter: 1/10, Aperture: f/5.3, Max Aperture: f/3.2, Focal Length: 11.6mm, ISO Speed: 400

I tried to take this photo once right before this one but my flash went off.  It took me a good ten minutes of figuring out what to set to get the picture to work just right and it was irritating, but I got it after awhile.  I like the coloring, though I wanted the back to be a darker, cherry kind of red.  If I were to retake it, I would try and make the edges of the leaf clearer and / or use a different colored leaf.

Shutter: 1/500, Aperture: f/8.5, Max Aperture: f/3.2, Focal Length: 5.1mm, ISO Speed: 80

While I was taking this, I thought, What could be a better example of light other than the picture of an actual light bulb?  When I edited this picture, to filter back in the color I saw verses what the camera saw, it didn't look this way.  When I uploaded it, the picture didn't have the background of the light container and the dust wasn't as visible.  To me, I think it's pretty interesting, and I like it.

Shutter: 1/100, Aperture: f/3.4, Max Aperture: f/3.2, Focal Length: 5.1mm, ISO Speed: 80

This is a retake of my other photo and I don't really mind it.  I took it around the same time, but I think I like the first photo better.  To me, retakes seemed to hold a copy-cat kind of feeling.

Shutter: 1/160, Aperture: f/4.2, Max Aperture: f/3.2, Focal Length: 7.7mm, ISO Speed: 80

I don't really like this photo because the trees didn't come out the way I wanted them too and the sun wasn't as visible in the background, but nevertheless, I tried.

Shutter: 1/30, Aperture: f/3.2, Max Aperture: f/3.2, Focal Length: 4.6mm, ISO Speed: 250

This photo reminds me of a camera effect for faces.  I like it, just because the lightbulb isn't visible but the actual light is.  However, I'm not exactly proud of it because the seams of the light cover are visible.
